Magnetic Ring Settlement Water Level Gauge
In earth-rock dams, embankments and slope projects, internal settlement and groundwater level are two core indicators for evaluating the safety status. Separate measurement often requires the deployment of two instruments, but the magnetic ring settlement water level meter can combine settlement and water level monitoring in one borehole. Its basic structure is a conduit with a scale or sensing element, and several magnetic settling rings and pressure water level sensors installed along the depth. When the soil settles, the magnetic ring follows, and the sensor detects the change in the position of the magnetic ring; at the same time, the water level probe at the bottom measures the water pressure and converts it into water level height. In this way, layer settlement and groundwater level data can be obtained with one drilling, eliminating the need for additional drilling and installation work. As a professional manufacturer of geotechnical monitoring instruments, Kingmach provides magnetic ring settlement water level gauges in various specifications, from conduit material to measuring range, which can be adjusted according to project needs. Our products are used in many dam safety monitoring and slope stability projects, and can be used with automated acquisition systems to achieve long-term online monitoring. Because it is mid-range, the cost is controllable while ensuring measurement stability and durability. The global distribution network also makes technical support and after-sales straightforward.
Technical Detail
The core measurement unit of the magnetic ring settlement water level meter consists of three parts: magnetic settlement ring, conduit and probe. The settlement ring is usually made of stainless steel or ABS plastic, is embedded in the soil layer around the borehole, and displaces as the soil settles. The inner wall of the catheter is smooth, and the probe can be lowered along the catheter and the position of each ring is located through magnetic induction. Common measurement accuracy is around ±1mm, depending on ring spacing and reading method. The water level part uses a pressure sensor with an accuracy of usually 0.1% FS, which can adapt to long-term immersion in groundwater. From the perspective of application scenarios, this instrument is particularly suitable for long-term monitoring of high earth-rock dams, railway embankments and deep foundation pits. It can not only provide the cumulative settlement amount in each depth interval, but also draw the groundwater level change curve to help engineers judge the seepage situation and consolidation process. The magnetic ring settlement water level meter provided by Kingmach supports multiple data output methods: manual reading, wireless transmission or connection to the existing automated monitoring network. Our technical team will assist with model selection and on-site installation guidance in the early stages of the project to ensure that the sensor is buried in an accurate location. The advantage of choosing Kingmach is the flexibility of customization. Standard products cover common depth ranges, but for projects requiring unconventional ranges or specialty materials, we can quickly adapt production. We are not keen on creating slogans such as "xx industry first", but spend our energy on the repeatability and long-term stability of the instrument. In terms of after-sales, through local agents and remote support from our headquarters, users can get technical response within 24 hours.

It mainly depends on the matching gap between the ring and the conduit, the coupling degree between the soil layer and the ring, and the environmental interference during reading. Under normal circumstances, the magnetic induction probe can resolve the displacement within 1mm, but if the ring is entrained or the conduit is bent, the error will increase. When installing, ensure that the axis of the ring and the conduit is aligned and the backfill is dense, which can significantly improve the accuracy.
Usually 5 to 20 magnetic rings can be installed in a conduit. The specific number is determined by the depth of the monitoring layer and the length of the conduit. The initial position of each ring is calibrated during the installation stage, and subsequent measurements are based on this position to calculate the settlement.
The pressure water level sensor has been calibrated at the factory, and it is recommended that it be compared with a known depth on site every year. If the drift exceeds the allowed value, it can be calibrated with the calibration tool we provide or returned to the factory. The sensor is usually fixed at the bottom of the conduit. If it is damaged, it needs to be extracted and replaced as a whole, so a spare pipe will be reserved during installation.
The outstanding advantage of the magnetic ring settlement water level meter is that it can realize layered settlement monitoring in vertical sections, rather than just measuring the settlement on the surface or at a certain point. At the same time, combined with water level measurement, the effective stress change can be analyzed. It has little interference with construction and is suitable for drilling and installation of structures that have been filled.
We provide supporting data collectors and cloud platforms, but can also connect to users' existing monitoring systems. The collector supports 4G/NB-IoT transmission, and data can be automatically uploaded to our Web or third-party platforms. The software has trend analysis and alarm functions. OEM versions can also be provided based on project needs.
